Does anyone have any experience with this brand? I saw them recommended and the price seems to be right, but wanted to see if anyone has had personal experience with them?
I am looking specifically at the Burris 200429 MTAC 1.5-6 x 40 Scope
Thanks.April 28, 2016 at 12:59 pm #26715Brian from GeorgiaParticipant
I have the Burris XTR 1-4. American made, tough as nails and excellent glass. I’ve used it a good bit for over 3 years now. It’s been through the original Combat Rifle Class, combined Combat Rifle and Patrol class, multiple Appleseeds and many training and range sessions.
I don’t have an MTAC but I hear good things about them. Besides, Burris has a no questions asked “forever” warranty. Buy it now, test it and prove it out so you can trust it. Buy with confidence.

I use an MTAC 1-4x on my primary rifle. I’ve been happy with it.
More on optics:

I have the XTR I 1-4x on my wife’s rig and the XTR II 1-5x on my own. We did the 5 CTT/Mob class in Texas a few months ago and I am very happy with them. They seem rugged. The XTR I was made in the US but the XTRII was made elsewhere. The battery lasts way longer in the XTRII but I still dont think they last very long. I may change the XTRI out for an aimpoint T2 on the wife’s rig per her preference.May 2, 2016 at 11:22 am #26859
I have the 1.5×6 on one of my rifles and it seems very sturdy if not a little heavy. The reticle does not lend itself to precision shooting due to the 100M dot ( I think it is at least 2 MOA), I think it would be fine as a combat optic though as you would be able to put well identified shots minute of man very quickly. Also with the illumination on the how view is rather busy but for under 50M that seems to be a plus.
Personally I like a finer reticle and am currently using the Nikon 1.5×6 illuminated scope on my go to rifle and the Trijicon 1×4 Aimpoint on the SBR. I I had the scratch I would have gone with the Leupold MK6 for my go to rifle or better yet the MK8 but I got the Nikon for a good price on ARF.com.
The BDC seems to work although I have learned I would personally dial in the dope as I like a cleaner view but as I said I think as a durable combat magnified optic the Burris works quite well. The glass is quite good, considering the price and the eye box is good.
I think having one on your team would be a plus if the others only have RDS.May 2, 2016 at 12:19 pm #26862Jon R T (aka Blind Sack)Participant
burris MTAC 1-4 …used it for short and longer stuff. BDC works and it has held up nicely. Holds zero well. recommend high quality quick detach mount (wilson, g g and T, etc).
