Battleground great movie, been to Bastogne and followed the Steps of my Grandfather across Europe. 2 combat Jumps with the 101st.

I want to say the Christmas Story. I hate people telling me I’ll shoot my eye out.

Support Side. Not flattering but better than weak side.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is clearly the best. I learned ALL of my CQB moves from the final scene in that movie where Chicago’s finest showed me everything I’d ever need to know! Don’t forget the cold weather survival lesson at the beginning and the overall adapt/improvise/overcome lesson weaved into the idea of spending Christmas with all your relations.

Obviously Lethal Weapon is the best! ;-)

    1987 was a banner year.

Florida became a shall issue CCW State, starting a wave of other states to follow.

I carried a 4″ Ruger Security Six 357 with two speed loaders and a couple of speed strips.

Pictured are speed strips for our younger members who are ignorant of old school methods.

The Dow broke 2000 for the first time, Iran Contra acknowledged, the Fairness Doctrine was axed, the Cold War was still hot, and the National debt was only 224 billion with President Reagan.

    The good old days! B-)

    couple of speed strips.

I’ve only encountered these once in the wild! That was maybe 2015? I had no idea what they were.

With that said, a j-frame still has its place.

I still need to watch my go-to holiday films:
    -Home Alone
    -A Christmas Story
    -Elf
-A Christmas Carol (1951 version OR Muppets)

Agree with Die Hard! Watched it at 0200 with my 6 day old asleep on me (gotta introduce the classics early). Elf is by far one of my favorites.

1987…. went to my first serious survival training that year- woefully under equipped. Young, dumb and thought I wouldn’t need half the crap I didn’t have anyway.

Threw together a half ass improvised shelter utilizing about 8 palm fronds as “waterproofing.” Light rain in the middle of the night and I woke up shivering- in September-in Florida. Got chiggers but little sleep.

My two favorite Christmas movies are actually war movies.

    In no particular order:
    Joyeux Noel (2005)

    A Midnight Clear (1992)

Joyeux Noel is about the Christmas 1914 truce seen through the eyes of French, British (actually Scottish), and German soldiers. The movie was filmed in Europe and used German, French, and Scottish actors. The French and German are subtitled in English. A couple of scenes gave me goose bumps.

A Midnight Clear is about a fictional truce between a small group of US soldiers and a group of German soldiers wishing to surrender during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944.
Both movies are very good and are well worth watching.
