Try a standard USGI Fighting Load Carrying Vest (FLC). Use it in Battle Belt configuration and keep pouches off chest.
As I am a man, I have no personal experience I will pass on what I have been told by other women.
1. FLC vest is good for women as long as you keep pouches off of chest area to avoid the bust area (depends on the size of the bust of the woman of course) The wide webbing of the FLC distributes well across the chest.
2. Chest rigs can be uncomfortable for women.
3. Battle Belt with normal sized suspenders can be irritating to the bust area. Also includes ALICE belt.

Before I can give you a good answer I’ll ask some clarifying questions.
Whats your budget? Are you the girl? What is her (your?) level of training and experience? Whats the mission? What weapon system(s) will this woman be using? Whats your perceived threat?

I recently bought a FLC for both me and my wife. As soon as I get hers set up, I’ll give a report. May be a while though, as she just gave birth to my son :)April 23, 2014 at 6:38 pm #3872CWParticipant

thanks for responses, cost is a factor but if it works/fits good, it is priceless. not the girl last time i checked, lol. Girl is spouse. novice in training. .30 carbine and 1911. thinking plate carrier would best. liked the idea of plate carrier than smaller type molle chest rig over the plate carrier. thinking of placing 2nddary on chest rig with molle or serpa so room is factor. the main goal is avoid any belts or strap over the stomach and kidney area. i have look’d thru a bunch of google images and living 45 min from the city with very few real tactical stores. thanks guys. Cheers. …side note. i have found condor hhr tactical radios pouches work great for 15 rnd .30 carbine mag holders and the baofang radios.April 23, 2014 at 9:17 pm #3889CWParticipant

A light plate carrier is great if you’re not carrying a lot but still feel the need for protection from rifle threats. In that instance the types of plates you get matter more than which plate carrier.
I’m a fan of tactical tailor and SKD has a huge selection of stuff too.
Identify the type of threat and fight you expect and tailor your equipment to that.May 8, 2014 at 8:19 am #4773AnonymousInactive
My wife has a plate carrier with no hard armor. She likes it better than a chest rig or a traditional assault vest. She isn’t carrying a heavy loadout. She holds a support role and her equipment supports the role well.
