Given my comments in the winter warfare and fear threads about the leadershi and mission planning functions, what is really needed is some good solid training that will give you some leadership, teamwork and mission planning experience. You can get this by attending the progression of MVT HEAT classes.
This is capped off by the Team Leader Class, the old CLC. I cancelled ths planned class in April and tried to get people to exercise some initiative, but like all things if I want it done I have to do it myself. I have been keeping August / September / October free at this time, partly because I have not.yet got to planning the second half of 2018, but also because that is prime time for military bookings.
I think we can sensibly fit in a CLC at the end of October. It is a full week long class, and I need 13 guys to optimally run it. It wil not be cheap, given the 1000 rounds of UTM required at the new prices. I also need 6 x OPFOR volunteers, who will, this time, have to pay for UTM ammo. No more freebies, but you get free training as OPFOR.
I have not yet scheduled this, and I am not asking people to sign up at this time, but I want to get an idea of genuine interest. CLC alums can tell you how valuable this class is.
This will also give you time to continue your training progression, get into the spring / summer 2018 classes; maybe if you have done HEAT 1 then knock out HEAT 2 or Fof. You will then be in a good spot to get maximum value out of the TL (CLC) class. We do have the 7 day in, I believe May, that allows you to knock out HEAT 1 and 2 and will put you in a really good spot.
Even on this forum, I still believe there are too many of you who think you can train yourselves by reading, and that it will be OK on the day. Really? This forum is here with information to support your practical / physical training.
It is now January, time to get out and start.working on fitness and gear in preparation for some serious warrior mindset in the upcoming year. Free forum fitness challenge at the end of the month.
What is the genuine interest in an October TL class?January 5, 2018 at 12:14 pm #54353JohnnyMacParticipant

People who are rather more than six feet tall and nearly as broad across the shoulders often have uneventful journeys. People jump out at them from behind rocks then say things like, "Oh. Sorry. I thought you were someone else."January 8, 2018 at 4:10 pm #54480gregwParticipant
I want to take the class, but would need to put a week of my vacation over the dates. The sooner you have dates, the more likely I can bid the time off.

21 – 28 October?
Mobile classes earloer, at the beginning of October, caught me out this year with end of year SF bookings. November is a gamble and can start to turn a little weather nasty.January 9, 2018 at 9:55 am #54506BobParticipant
Those dates work for me. I have something else going on Oct 7-12.

Well, here goes nothing, I just scheduled it for October 21 – 28. I need 13 guys for this, plus 4 – 6 OPFOR. Sadly, OPFOR will have to pay towards UTM ammunition this time, but no tuition.
Team Cabin: Electric is going in over the next couple of months followed by insulation and sheathing. This means it will be in position to fulfill it’s function as a team room for the Team Leader class. Last April, the ‘FOB’ was just the campsite. Now we have the Team Cabin there.
A note on this: due to bullshit from Hampshire County, who imported a bunch of stupid building codes, if you want to sleep anywhere for ‘only one night’ it has to be coded as a single family residence. So bye bye new-build rustic cabins in Hampshire County, unless they were grandfathered in. Thus, the Team Cabin is permitted as a utility/ storage building and is intended for use as Team Room for social and briefing purposes, and classroom. This is why you will never see anywhere on the website anything about people sleeping in there. As far as I am aware, people have laid down there during the hours of darkness to rest their sore backs, but they promised they would not sleep, so I believe no one has ever slept there overnight.
