I wanted to watch this movie since I saw a trailer. I just found it on Amazon and watched the first 6:45 of it. I have stopped the movie, I don’t know if I can go back. of course I will.
Hells balls people. I have used movie examples of this in class. This is the fate of every lone prepper family. The fate of the frontier family living alone among hostiles. I am so pissed at the husband, so very pissed. I need to take this movie less seriously…..
Oh: Den of Thieves. Awesome, with some not half bad beginning and end tactical scenes. Why the full auto all the time? Don’t do it. Aim your shots, even at rapid fire rates. Scott teaches one handed reloads at DCH. Think you won;t need that? The guy who tactically advised on this had a bit of knowledge, enough to let the director make a mess of it with movie stupidity.May 4, 2018 at 8:08 am #58194JohnnyMacParticipant
Haha! My tactical education over the years has made it hard for me to watch some movies, where all I can think about is the tactical blunders or hollywood BS, instead of just sitting there being entertained.May 4, 2018 at 12:15 pm #58201BrothersKeeperParticipant
I still watch the walking dead for some unknown compulsive reason and the constant use of automatic fire by every character with seemingly unlimited ammo is maddening. There is no proper carriage of mags, no decent team tactics, no proper aiming and shot placement, I could go on and on. A couple squads of MVT grads could have taken out the saviors two seasons ago.

I haven’t watched it in a while, but the one handed pistol head shots while running always crossed the line for my ability to suspend reality.May 4, 2018 at 1:23 pm #58203wildbillParticipant
Watching many of these “action” movies has been ruined after taking some of Max’s classes; off screen I keep hearing Max yelling STOP!!! WTF IS THAT!!!

Den Of Thieves was surprisingly good. From what I’ve learned at MVT, it was a pleasure to see break contact drills during the end scene. Also, I was delightfully happy to see reloads; as they always seem to be an after thought in Hollywood. I wonder where these magical magazines are made? They seem to be a standard capacity, but never end…

I haven’t seen Den of Thieves, but we did watch Hostiles on Amazon Prime this past Tuesday! I agree, I was super pissed at the husband, he was a damn fool! But it was pretty good I thought, brutal as it most likely was back then, but a good movie. There was another part I thought was a little stupid, but I won’t ruin it for you since you haven’t finished it!

For the TX folks here…..read about Cynthia Ann Parker. They had a stockade to protect against hostiles (Indians) that worked well. But the do-gooder who thinks they can bargain will be and are sadly mistaken. IIRC, it was an uncle who just such……and the stockade was lost, with massacre and abduction the result. Are you prepared to prevent such actions of stupidity??? At all costs??

I’ve been reading Empire of the Summer Moon. The Comanche was absolutely fearless and wickedly violent. You can’t survive on your own. Just not possible.

Hostiles is a good movie. It is worth watching all the way through.
And Den of Thieves was good not only for the shootouts, but for the mind fuck at the end.
Signal out, can you identify.
Je ne regrette rien...

Which brings to mind one of the BEST books I have ever read –
Yes, it’s talking about stuff that happened 150 years ago, but it is relevant to the savagery that humans are capable of, and the fact that survivors have to make a conscious decision to survive… and then get lucky.
Edit – I just noticed that A_A_Ron2guns beat me to it!
