Though I’ve avoided the NFA shuffle to date, it’s not that bad beyond the principle of it. Cost is a relative issue, big for some, not so much for others.
Know plenty of people that deal with it mostly without pain.

The ATF had actually been quite responsive when I’ve sent then in the form for out of state travel. That form is free and I got my reply letter in 3-4 weeks.
A short barreled pistol does have its own strengths though.
