Regarding 6.5 Creedmoor, I’d be concerned about availability if things go haywire. I’m holding off on considering any of the 6.whatever caliber stuff until one becomes more ubiquitous. A couple of years back it was the newfangled SPC and SOCOM calibers making the rounds.
Just my working experience, we used 7.62 semi-auto rifles in a DMR role with optics and such. Usually we’d use Dragunovs but occasionally FALs and H&Ks and such would pop up. (Stateside obviously 7.62×51 caliber rifles would be more practical.) At night we were stuck with the M16s for DMR work but that was primarily due to having no way to mount night optics on our Dragunovs.
Soviet sniper doctrine would probably be worth taking note of here, they had guys with DMRs in every platoon.

A little shy of 1,000rds through the Barrett REC10 at this point, and only one malfunction so far – stovepipe that turned into a double-feed when I tap-rack-banged.
My gut tells me not to trust it quite as much as I trust my SCAR-17, but it’s still going strong!
We are all victims of our perspective.
