Besides it being an utter abomination, what the fudge is the point of it? Your standing cheek to cheek or hip to hip with your battle buddy and want to do-si-do?

Thus used to be a std technique taught at TR fighting rifle class. Maybe still is?
My opinion, not a good technique. Along with a full 360 turn around during scan, old T,T,P’s that are slowly being replaced with more current, valid techniques.

Yea but the one instructor had a very cool operator beard, so it must be legit.

Wonder if they teach that standing up and spinning around reload thing too? lolNovember 9, 2016 at 11:14 am #36161egglestonParticipant
First Sergeant did not teach this technique at CRS . So Iam guessing it is total bullshit . Maybe improving position of cover would be a better COA .November 9, 2016 at 3:01 pm #36178paratusParticipant

To elaborate, this was A technique, back in the day; we’re talking pre-GWOT here. TR taught buddy teams, back-to-back fire and movement. I guess it was for urban terrain, linear danger areas, etc. Yes, it looks pretty goofy now. Yes it’s easy to fuck it up, as illustrated.
And yes, TR also taught the 360 degree spin-scan. It was designed to get peeps out of the tunnel vision response. While it had some merit, I think we see better ways of doing it today.
You know, TR had some cutting edge, intro-level stuff to offer back in the day, but this has been totally surpassed by the last tens years of warfare and what the guys learned and evolved with.
Buyer beware. Lots of nuckleheads out there teaching out-moded techniques to a gullible audience.

Don’t bother with the other knukleheads, come to MVT for the real deal.
