Perhaps a separate thread for EDC gear would help and another on sustainment loads (ruck and assault pack) so this can focus on fighting loads.March 29, 2014 at 10:58 am #1886AnonymousInactive

I’m not so sure that carrying a TQ is really necessary every single day. In normal times EMS response is relatively quick and you are wearing a belt that can work as a TQ if necessary.
If I was to carry a piece of medical gear every single day, it would most likely be a 4″ Izzy. It is far more practical and capable of doing more. In a pinch an Izzy can function as a TQ.
I understand the desire to be prepared, but you are far more likely to need a bandage than a TQ.
And as a medical professional I would say either a CAT or a SOFFT. Although I agree with the concept of carrying that which you are most comfortable with.March 29, 2014 at 2:25 pm #1900
I carry a bandage, an old school G.I. one. I find the Israeli bulky and hard to fit in some pockets.
An instructor once told me your far more likely to have t save a life than take one.March 30, 2014 at 9:03 pm #1972Brian from GeorgiaParticipant

Hey keymaster, what brand is the flecktarn rig and where can I acquire? Looks good!
It looks sharp but has zero flexibility as all pouches are hardwired into the rig.
Its currently in my cache , but next time I check on it I will look at the brandname.
It was some German hunters outfit I think and i simply dont remember where I had gotten it.April 11, 2014 at 8:43 pm #3040shooterParticipant
Unless something has changed, Arktis will make their rigs in flecktarn. A bit bulky, but you can haul a LOT of stuff in them, and they seem to be pretty bombproof.
I had a K170 years ago that was built like an anvil. Moved to a lighter rig now, but it was good stuff.

So after a bit of saving up and getting a killer e-bay deal this is my current rig, starting left to right
1x Blackhawk H-harness
1x Specialty defense coyote brown grenade pouch
2x Specialty defense pistol mag pouches Coyote Brown
1x gray ghost gear open top dual mag pouch
2x spec ops double mag pouches
1x gray ghost gear coyote brow dump pouch
1x Condor rip away EMT pouch Tan (loaded with various medical items)
1x Butt pack unknown manufacture (Empty need suggestions on what to pack in)
1x Cold Steel G.I Tanto Coyote Brown sheath
1x Canteen pouch
1x Pistol pouch
2x Spec ops general purpose pouches
1x Condor hydration carrier
12x Magpul Magazines
1x Pistol 9mm
1x Ar-15 (not shown)
So questions and comments needed please let me know what I can do to improve on this, also what to carry in the Butt Pack aside from the obvious rations?April 27, 2014 at 3:21 pm #4116
Tape you straps down.
I see a “first aid kit” but no idea what is in it. Loose the tacticool cross patch thingie, and mark your IFAK with a either a piece of red tape, or replace the zipper pulls with red 550 cord-or both. Remember this kit is not for boo-boos, it’s for immediate life threatening injuries. There are many good lists of what to put in that kit, check them out and get trained on how to use those tools.
You need a TQ, and it should be mounted outside you pouches in a place where it can be grabbed by either hand.
As far as the buttpack, I suggest: 24 hrs. rations, a chunk of 550 cord, water purification tabs. I’m sure others will help you out too.
Oh yeah….hit your shit up with some krylon to break up the pattern.April 28, 2014 at 5:04 pm #4176WattageParticipant
@Doc bunny Did you buy the Leo Kohler gear on ebay in Germany? or is there any place that you can buy in USA? I couldn’t find them on ebay uk. Only in ebay.de thanks. –Wattage.April 29, 2014 at 10:34 am #4208
I bought it from a company out of Germany, but not on eBay. Just a bit of a heads up: it takes for freaking ever to get ANYTHING out of Germany. Those people have a national holiday like very week. It took me 30 days to get my order, and it wasn’t the company I did business with (sierra 313). Most of these guys only ship DHL, and they really are the slow boat from the fatherland.May 1, 2014 at 5:47 pm #4375
My rig is a Condor Ranger Harness
6 Loaded Pmags
2 Loaded Glock Mags
Battle Belt is Condor with Cobra Belt
2 Loaded Pmags,
2 Loaded Glock Mags
Ifak(I saw the post about moving your TQ so I need to do that.)
Grenade Pouch holding my Petzle Head Lamp
Drop Leg is Condor with a Kydex insert I made molded to my Glock. Not a big fan of this drop leg.
The chest rig at top is one I made(yes with a sewing machine) ideally for Vehicle operations. I’ve adapted it with a pouch for Canteen,2 Pmag capacity, secondary IFAK and extra medical crap.
I primarily use this when hiking trails or doing more administrative/leadership tasks.
Radio: HX370S (not recommended. Overpriced and requires a radio to program)
Sling: Condor Stryker – Good single and 2pt sling. But chaffe’s your neck when you are wearing only a t-shirt.
Palmetto 5.56 AR
Condor Multicam Patrol Pack with 6 loaded Pmags, food, other items of necessity.
I train almost every week for at least 2 hours in the woods hiking, patrol, etc with this gear. It has held up. If I train 50 weeks a year with this gear that is over 100 hours so far.
I treat my stuff rough. Because if it is going to let me down I want it do do so during training. I’ve been very happy with my gear.
Would I like to run some HSG or Tactical Tailor? hell yeah. But I gotta eat.May 2, 2014 at 6:38 pm #4431AnonymousInactive
You guys have probably seen my rig before. http://masondixontactical.wordpress.com/2014/03/10/the-fightingsurvival-load-for-mounted-and-dismounted-operations/ (I know Bergmann and Max have). The only change I’m making is two double rifle Taco pouches to the right side (weak side) for faster mag changes (It took seven damn seconds in that video for me to pull a mag out of the flap covered pouch, and I want to reduce that time. The Taco pouch goes along with my requirement for adaptability to all the rifles I use (AR, AK, M14).May 2, 2014 at 6:40 pm #4432AnonymousInactive
BTW, The Taco pouches are replacing the double pouch with flaps, not in addition to.May 11, 2014 at 7:05 pm #4984
I added this bit to my battle belt. Was not happy with my IFAK. And didn’t want to spend $85+s/h for the SOtech flat IFAK. So I made my own. I’d been dabbling with tactical sewing for over a year but this is the first really successful project I made. It works as intended. And I just did an overnighter and backpacked in and it didn’t get in the way.May 13, 2014 at 11:12 pm #5123AnonymousInactive
1. HSGI SureGrip belt

Large woodland molle pouch is kifaru. Harness utility pouch is spec ops brand. Pistol is usgi. Double flapped rifle mag pouch(being used for smoke, flares, etc) is TAG I think.
Not pictured is ares armour molle plate carrier with ar500 curved plates.May 16, 2014 at 12:02 pm #5289
@53GR, how do you like the ATS suspenders? I’ve been considering some low-pro suspenders and those caught my eye.May 16, 2014 at 11:08 pm #5324AnonymousInactive
@Chuck, I like them, though I’ve had little experience with them on the trail. I chose low-profile suspenders because I wanted to be able to comfortably have a plate carrier or backpack over-top of the suspenders. I got them from OPTactical:

If Condor works and doesn’t fail then run it. The main reason I run TT is they are local. I can go to their brick and mortar shop, see the gear, play with it, ask questions, get it altered as I need it. I choose them because I believe in supporting local companies first, US companies second, and original design third. My only real gripe with the likes of Condor and Voodoo are the shameless design biting they do. TT makes a basass rig…Condor copies it and undercuts them on price with cheap chinese labor and (slightly) lower quality.
Thoughts?June 14, 2014 at 6:31 pm #6379

It was really part of a deal, so I don’t know the actual cost. Give them an e-mail and ask for a quote for a rig like mine. I really think it’s the tits, ultimate light rig for a citizen soldier.June 15, 2014 at 10:01 pm #6402

A quick question: Is there a benefit of having a roll pin belt over a Cobra belt (besides cost)?
Also, how important is it to have a heavy riggers belt as part of your battle belt setup? Just thinking about weight.
