Political posturing, total junk thinking since half the political coalition this comes from buys a boatload of Glocks and posts pictures of them the same time their little sisters are on Twitter calling for the banning of guns.
If I may say so it has a certain element of logic, the average Democratic voter goes to a party lead rally and actually meets his or her coalition partners and they are scary as f*ck from drugged up cat ladies to scary people who rant about killing whitey. So disarming said people is logical to them, my BIL being a case study, he attends fringe rallies on the left and can make no case that they should have AR-15s.

Honestly the more the anti-gunners explicitly state they want to kill the Second Amendment and ban all guns, the better it is for us. They want to paint us as extremists while portraying themselves and level-headed moderates, if their true colors are shown it’ll show those folks who are still on the fence or deluded about the anti-gun folks’ true aims what their ulterior motives are.

I find the talk of repeal to be interesting. Historically restrictionists either flat out ignore the rights recognized by the 2nd amendment or through tortured logic claim it somehow does not apply to whatever they want to ban. Whether they realize it or not, by calling for its repeal they are tacitly admitting the 2nd amendment actually means that Americans have individual rights to both keep and bear arms. They may not agree with such an interperatation, but they are at least admitting that there is enough power behind that interpretation to give it teeth at a national level. If it were not the case, then they would be free to implement whatever policies they desired without so much as a thought to their legality. They have to deal with the elephant in the room now, or at least they are choosing to virtue signal by talking about it.
Perhaps this might indicate a shift in the debate from wether an individual constitutional right to keep and bear arms exists to one where we can debate whether that right is worth keeping on the books. I think that is a debate our side can win if the liberalization (as in towards liberty) of gun laws at the state level in all but hard blue areas is any indication of public sentiment.
Further repealing a constitutional amendment is way harder than ramming badly written “do something!” legislation through the single party state legislatures common in areas where gun rights have been eorded. That is mostly all the restrictionists have been able to pull off in the last decade or so. They themselves admit as much in their propaganda on how they can’t get better clingers or free states to comply.
Recalling my earlier allusion to state level gun rights expansion over the last thirty years, I see a repeal push as a great windmill for the likes of Bloomberg to tilt at. I hope they try it and I hope it bankrupts the movement.
